Apply for/Print License Online

The Agents Licensing Section processes applications for licensure in date received order. Please allow a minimum of 15 business days for processing before contacting the Bureau concerning the status of an application.

Pre-licensing Requirements:

Virginia Agent Examination, Testing and Licensing Procedures for Life and Annuities, Health, Property and Casualty, Personal Lines, and Title Licensing Procedures are outlined in the Insurance Licensing Candidate Handbook published by Pearson VUE, the Bureau’s examination administrator.

• License Renewals:
  Virginia resident and nonresident Surplus Lines Broker, Consultant and Viatical Settlement Broker licenses must be renewed annually prior to July 1. The online renewal process will be available approximately 90 days prior to June 30. Non-renewed licenses terminate June 30. All other Virginia licenses are perpetual.
