- Public Adjuster Licensing - Article 4.1 of Chapter 18 of Title 38.2 requires licensing
of public adjusters. No person shall engage in the business of public adjusting,
on or after January 1, 2013, without first applying for and obtaining a license
from the Commission, except as provided in Virginia Code Section 38.2-1845.3. Public
adjusting means investigating, negotiating, adjusting or providing advice to an
insured in relation to first party claims arising under insurance contracts that
insure real or personal property of an insured for the purpose of effecting the
settlement of a claim on behalf of the insured.

An electronic submission portal is available for submission of license renewals
and financial filings. In the portal, required license renewal and financial filing
documents are identified. The ability to submit most filing documents is provided.
Documents submitted via the portal are available for review.
The initial offering of this service EXCLUDES the following
company types: Automobile Clubs, Continuing Care Retirement Communities, Municipal
Liability Pools, Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements, Premium Finance Companies,
Rate Service Organizations, Viatical Settlement Providers, and Workers Compensation
Group Self-Insurers. Access the
