"Train the Trainer" Education Program

This program has been designed to provide to those interested a more in-depth understanding of Virginia’s Damage Prevention law, the Commission’s Rules, and the C.A.R.E. Message. For two days, the Division training staff provides the training through an organized Lesson Plan to the attendees. Those who successfully complete the workshop receive a certificate and can educate others based on the Division’s Lesson Plan.

Notice to all Graduates of the Train the Trainer Workshop

Effective January 2012, a new lesson plan is available that replaces the version that you were provided if you completed the Workshop prior to January 2012. The new lesson plan has been updated to include references to the newest versions of the Virginia Professional Excavator’s Manual (January 2011), and the Virginia Underground Utility Marking Standards booklet (Seventh Edition). The lesson’s PowerPoint presentation has also changed to include updated pictures of the covers of the above mentioned documents. The covers now exclude the date of the current version so the PowerPoint will not need to be updated if a new version of either document becomes available in the future.

Contact Frank Hudik with your name, complete mailing address, telephone number, email, and the date you completed the Workshop, and we will provide you with an updated lesson plan and PowerPoint presentation. Please indicate the number of copies of the January 2011 Virginia Professional Excavator’s Manual and the Seventh Edition of the Virginia Underground Utility Marking Standards booklets you need. There is no charge for any of the documents.
